Were You Considered A Spiritual Person In The Congregation?
by minimus inone of the biggest reasons many can't get over the fact that my wife, daughter and i left the "truth" is because we were considered "spiritual models" in the hall as well as circuit.
we knew everybody from cos and bethel heavies to "prominent" elders and families within the organization.
we were on many circuit parts and i had the "privilege" (

Take care of yourself...remember, if you haven't got your health, you haven't got anything.

I'm minded of what Princess Buttercup said to Prince Humperdinck when asked if she thought Wesley was brave:
"Only compared to some."

The relationship between religion, education, and political party - help!
by somebodylovesme ini am drawing from the collected wisdom of this board, which has never let me down before!
i'm doing some research for a school project and was wondering if anyone had any sources (academic, news, articles, anything "legit") discussing the relationship between a person's religion, education, and political party -- or any combination of those.
i do have the list ranking each religion's percentage of college-educated members, but i'm having a hard time finding anything linking these to political party.

How is this project going, btw?

The tax cuts and other policies President Bush proposed in his 2005 $2.4 trillion budget would probably have a minimal impact on the economy, the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office said Monday. "... the differences are likely to be small, affecting output by less than one-half of one percentage point on average," the study said.
A year ago, the Congressional Budget Office examined Bush's 2004 budget and concluded that its impact was "not obvious."

God does exist...
by czarofmischief inearlier a thread emerged, as they do so often, on whether or not god existed.
i stated that he does, unequivocally and without doubt.
i refused to preface the statement with the phrase "i believe".

First off, czar, bravo to you for acknowledging that you came off in a way you did not intend, acknowledging the validity of anyone who felt that way, and then eloquently sharing what you beleive in a way that avoids the sort of offense you sought to avoid. Responsible communication.
Of course, you already know I disagree with you, but that's not the point - the point is that I really respect how you did what you did. Good on you.
